My how time flies!

I can't believe it's been so long since we updated the blog! Sorry to have neglected it - we've been busy having fun with Zane! =) Adding lots of videos and photos today so you can see what we've been up to.

Here's some highlights since the last post:
- drove to El Paso (with the dogs!) to visit Gana for her 95th birthday (had fun staying with Gamma - Grandma Sutherland, for a week!)
- adapted to Mom going back to work - pretty easy since he loves spending all day with his Grammie (Grandma Bacher)
- attended his first baby shower and met lots of other babies to play with (and perhaps some future girlfriends?)
- drove to San Antonio for Tracy & Dave's wedding
- survived his circumcision on Friday!

Here are some recent pics and videos!

This video is long but I love it - lots of smiling, cooing, a few little laughs and he even does "Guns Up" (the Texas Tech Red Raiders hand signal). Enjoy watching Zane wake up!

5) 9/26 - Sleeping arms - We finally had to record this since it was so cute (to us at least!) Zane was sleeping and we kept adjusting his head, and his arms would fly up fast but reeeeaaallly slowly go down. I love seeing how adorably fat and pudgy his arms are!

6) 10/2 - Razzberry reaction - so Zane has the cutest reaction to the "razzberry sound" - it's like he has no clue where it comes from or what it means! We love eliciting this reaction from him, it's adorable every time.

6 weeks old

It's been a while since we've posted - in one sense, we've been very busy (traveling to Denver with a one month old is quite an undertaking!) and in another sense - other than Denver, we haven't been doing much. Lots of eating, sleeping (for Zane, at least) and that's about it.

Zane went to the pediatrician last Monday, for his belated one-month appointment. He's a growing boy - here are the numbers!
Weight: 11lbs, 15oz (a nice growth from birth weight of 10lbs 7oz)
Height: 23 3/4 inches
His weight is in the 94th percentile for his age, and his height is in the 92nd percentile. The doctor says he looks great!! He had some major baby acne and cradle cap earlier this week, but it's quickly cleared up!!

So, all in all we're doing great!! Zane did great on the Denver trip, with the drive up, staying in the hotel, and meeting tons of family. And Mike & I certainly feel more confident getting around with him....after Denver, a trip to the store is a piece of cake!

Here's just a few videos.....will try to post more soon!
1) Zane's first road trip!

3) Zane cooling off - wait till the end for a nice little surprise ;)
This is after Mike & I walked to a park near his grandparent's house. Zane got pretty warm so he was cooling off and we were doing some close up video of him, and he decided to end the shot his own way =)

41 weeks and finally some progress!!

Well we're getting to the end of this pregnancy and today we finally got some news of progress!

I'm 1 1/2 centimeters dilated, and I've been having steady (yet sporadic) contractions since Saturday night. Not enough to warrant any trips to the hospital, but enough for us & our Dr. to know that we're getting close!

Today's appt was great. We were able to have another sonogram, which showed that there's plenty of amniotic fluid, which means that our Dr. is on board with us waiting a bit longer for me to go into labor naturally. The sonogram also showed that Zane is head down & face down, which is the perfect position for labor!

And.....the estimate is that Zane is at least 9lbs, if not closer to 9 and a 1/2 lbs. Yes folks, you're reading that correctly - there's a very good chance that I'm currently carrying a 9lb 8oz baby right now! (no wonder I'm so dang tired!!) So looks like we're gonna have a BIG Bacher Boy! =)

So - we're just waiting for labor to really kick in right now. Just in case, the dr. did have us schedule one more "natural" labor inducing procedure for Friday night - getting Cytomax, which just means getting some prostaglandins into my system, which frequently will induce labor. So, we're currently scheduled to be admitted to the hospital at 8pm on Friday night to get the Cytomax. If that doesn't get things going, they'll artificially induce labor with Pitocin starting at 5am on Saturday.

That means we'll have Zane by this weekend for sure!!! However, we're really, really, REALLY hoping for a 100% natural labor - so please say your prayers and cross your fingers and toes that labor kicks in much sooner than Friday!! Ideally, we'd like to be getting discharged from the hospital by Friday, not just barely getting admitted. It's all in God's hands though, we know His timing is perfect!

Thanks again for all your love & support! Hopefully our next blog update will be lots of pics of the little guy! =)

40 weeks and counting

So the due date of July 6th has come and gone, and we're still pregnant!

The update from the doctor today was that I was just barely dilated, but that she could tell things were progressing. The good news of course is that both Zane & I are in great health, all the stats are coming back perfect.

So we're just waiting on God's timing....He knows when the perfect day and time is for Zane to arrive! I'm comfortable most of the time - it's just miserably hot outside so we stay in most of the time (unless we're floating in the pool!)

Please keep us in your prayers that Zane comes soon - Mike & I are hoping to have a completely natural birth, so we won't induce unless we absolutely have to. Thankfully our dr's are also on board for going the natural route, so we won't face induction until the 20th or so (and hopefully it will be a moot point by then!)

Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes, hopefully our next update will have photos of Zane's delivery!! in the meantime...here's my 40 week pics showing just how HUGE I am!!
